ABOUT US
Pryor Creek Community Church is an assembly of believers in Jesus
Christ that have an intense desire to live their lives wholly for the
glory of God. Within this family of faith, there are a multiplicity of
gifts and callings that are functioning to the glory of God and to the
well-being of the Church. Pryor Creek Community Church is an
Evangelical Church that is not affiliated with any major denomination.
Pastor Melton's gifts are apparent in his preaching; the gift of
repentance preaching. Pastor Melton has been led of God to re-dig the
"old-wells" and to study the ministries of the Puritans, such as
Jonathan Edwards, John Owens, William Gurnall, Joseph Aillene, and
Richard Baxter. Also, Charles Spurgeon, William Booth, Judson, Tozer
and Ravenhill have deeply impacted Pastor Melton's life.
The services at Pryor Creek Community
Church are powerful and life changing. The worship is Christ exalting,
using both hymnody and choruses that glorify God and His sovereignty.
The messages that come from the pulpit are powerfully anointed and life
changing. Each message challenges the believer to commit to Christ
Jesus and to bear their own cross in self denial. Pryor Creek Community
Church stands opposed to the easy believism that is so prevalent in
modern churches. We stand upon the scriptural authority that man must
be born-again before he can enter the Kingdom of God. We find no
scriptural authority for common practices such as the "sinners prayer"
which leads to false conversions.
The scriptures declare that the depraved
man, or the man dead in his sins, cannot remedy himself. Consequently,
God must come to him through the proclamation of the Gospel and
‘enliven’ or impart new life before he is capable
of believing or repenting. (Faith and repentance are spiritual virtues
the fallen man is incapable of, and hostile against.) This new life not
only gives ability to believe and repent; it also gives desire.
Consequently:
The Scriptures declare that through
repentance for sin, and faith towards God, man is converted. Being so,
we refuse to conform to the commonly practiced, cultural religious
etiquette; but stand strong upon the authority of the Word of God that
declares man must repent of his sins, and assert faith towards God to
be truly born-again.
We believe that true repentance will
produce the fruit of godly living. Without this fruit, true repentance
has not been attained. The work of the Holy Spirit is to convict the
world of sin; being so, conviction is a grace unto repentance. Without
this work, salvation is impossible. It is imperative that the powerful
preaching of the Law of God and the Gospel of Jesus Christ come into
conflict with sinful man that he might see his condemned state as a
sinner and to experience the deep conviction and contrition for his
sins against a Holy God. Moreover, it is imperative that the sinner
understands that Jesus Christ is his only way of escape from the wrath
of God that is upon all sinful men such as himself. In this great
dilemma, the sinner repents of his sins, and trusts in Christ for His
mercy and pardon unto salvation. Subsequently, the redeemed man becomes
a follower of Jesus Christ, devoted to Him and committed for eternity.
We also believe that Missions is an
imperative command for the Lord's true church. PCCC is deeply involved
with world missions; not only monetarily by giving finances, but
practically by sending believers into the field of harvest. PCCC is in
partnership with Asian Tribal Ministries based out of Chiang Mai,
Thailand. This partnership produces opportunities for teams to be sent
into the war-zone areas of Burma for outreach with the Karen tribe.
PCCC sends teams to this remote region as the Lord opens up the doors.
We also believe that we are to take care
of our orphans and widows. Since 1993 the State of Oklahoma has worked
hand-in-hand with us, bringing us 400-500 teenagers per year from
across our State to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Thunderbird
Youth Academy located in Pryor, Oklahoma has been in relationship with
us, entrusting us to provide services for their cadets. This is a
unique opportunity to reach this generation of at-risk youth with the
Gospel of Jesus Christ and to make disciples of them; as these are the
orphans of our society. We are blessed beyond measure to serve them,
and to love them.
Our great desire is to see the body of
Christ mobilized and functioning as a body and not individuals after
their own desires. In this desire, we strive for each member of the
body of Christ to excel in the gifts in which they have been entrusted.
The membership of PCCC are actively engaged in the body of Christ; they
are not just filling a pew. The membership is submitted to the vision
of the local church and under authority of the leadership of the
church, with zeal and passion. We are passionately going forward,
growing together, and glorifying God as we advance. We invite you to
join us in this pursuit!
